The boiler is designed for an operating condition of 5,300 kPa and 460 ºC, the optimum conditions for the particular site when exporting electricity. It is equipped with TES pinhole grate, triple drum bagasse feeders, pneumatic spreaders and steam cyclones. The biggest engineering challenge were the seismic conditions at Tamazula : it is located right on a major fault, essentially an extension of California's notorious San Andreas fault.
